I’m just back from my own family holiday to the Aqua Suites in Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote. It was amazing and I thought I’d share – it’s full of those little touches that make such a big difference.

This place is ideal for couples who like a really good standard or a family who don’t like it overly crowed or busy like you’d find in big holiday village type hotels. It’s a 4* Boutique style hotel and it’s voted #2 out of 90 hotels in Puerto del Carmen. I can see why.

On arrival you get a welcome drink of bubbles for the adults and orange juice for the children. Your bags are taken to your room for you if you would like. The rooms are done up to the highest standard. They’re a good size, very spacious. The hotel has one/two/three bedroom suites to choose from…… a huge super king size bed – one of the most comfortable I have ever had while on holiday! There’s a large plaza tv, own balcony or terrace with sunbeds, parasol and table and chairs. You have tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge in your room that is stocked on arrival with soft drinks (a coke and a fanta) a small bottle of white wine, a small bottle of red wine and 2 cans of beer. These are free of charge, although they are not restocked for your stay. There isn’t a mini bar, they are just for your arrival. However there is also a large bottle of water in the room and it is replenished every day for you when the cleaning is being done. This is a really nice touch.

Everything throughout this hotel is spotlessly clean. I witnessed them taking the very sun parasols apart and polishing them, as well as turning over the sunbeds and cleaning every inch of them. They have a good sized pool with a very attentive and great lifeguard on daily from 9-5pm and now have a second, shallower triangle-shaped pool for kids and one of the largest Jacuzzis on the island which is adult only on the upper level and is so relaxing. They also provide you with pool towels free of charge that are also in your room for you. If you’re travelling with a baby they have everything you need like a cot set up in your room, a high chair and even a baby bath all there waiting for you.

This hotel is on a half board basis and the food is second to none and worth every penny, it is a la carte, not buffet like most hotels. For breakfast you have everything and you do go up and get your own fruit, cereal drinks etc…..but when it comes to a cooked breakfast it is table service the staff come and take your order and its cooked to your liking down to eggs hard or soft bacon well done or basically they will go out of your way to do anything you would like if they possibly can. When it comes to your evening meal again its completely table service it’s a set menu that changes daily with a wide variety and the quality is amazing… and whats on will be on the board form that morning its usually a choice of 3 / 4 starters, 3 / 4 mains and same for desserts. Also another big plus you also have the option of letting them know daily of you would like to swap evening meal for lunch and that can be anything from the pool bar menu as well as the set menu. Not a lot of places do this and also without restrictions.

They are also very good to their customers if celebrating a birthday or anniversary as well. The staff in this complex are so friendly and so helpful with anything you need. When I was there a lot of guests I spoke to were repeat clients and said it was one the best places they have stayed in. In fact, one particular couple told me they used to always stay in the Princess Yaiza in Playa Blanca and since finding this place they prefer it in their opinion.

Location wise it is up a hill and anyone who knows Lanzarote or knows where the Cinco Plaza is it is literally just up behind it about a 5 min walk. So it’s a about 10-15 min walk down hill to the strip and the beach and for those who don’t want to walk back up the hill its €3.00 euro in a taxi.
